NAVIGATING WORK WITH ADHD?

Most people think that ADHD support is about quiet spaces and extra time. It’s more complicated than this.

If you are someone who experiences challenges associated with attention or emotional regulation, you’ll know how much of your valuable energy and time goes into ruminating thoughts. It’s exhausting and it takes you away from doing what you excel in.

I can help.

Coaching has the potential to be a highly effective form of workplace support.

By learning to work with your brain, not against it, you will develop deeper awareness and language to understand your experience.

You’ll learn what environments, people involvement, recognition, and practical tools you need to set yourself up for success, not to fail.

WHAT HAPPENS IN COACHING?

NERVOUS SYSTEM REGULATION

The confidential, neutral, facilitated thinking space is an opportunity to say out load what feels heavy - without career limiting consequences.

This immediately alleviates anxiety, reduces the cognitive load and improves wellbeing.

If it’s useful and relevant to your experience, we’ll explore concepts such as heightened self-critical tendencies and rejection sensitive dysphoria.

We’ll touch on the optimal zone of functioning (window of tolerance) theory. You’ll learn to navigate through the different zones to minimise your time in the unhelpful zones.

I’ll guide you through some simple cognitive behaviour coaching techniques to help you understand why you do what you do.

We’ll identify which of your habits and behaviour patterns are outdated and no longer serve you well.

DEEP DIVE INTO EXECUTIVE FUNCTION

We pay attention to the unique talents and strengths you bring. Then we focus on the areas of executive functioning that are areas of difficulty.

This could be any combination of task initiation, planning, organising, prioritisation, working memory, and impulse control.

Unless you’re already up to speed with this, we’ll talk about dopamine, the TPN (task productive network) and the DMN (default mode network) and how to outsmart the toggle between them.

We consider how the systems (family, education, different workplaces, culture) you have been part of have shaped your professional identity.

With these insights, we’ll experiment with a range of techniques and tools to help you work more effectively.
